INTRODUCTION.

This is believed to be the most difficult language in the world especially by English speakers although with a few skills persistence and practice one can become very good as its always said practice makes perfect.
There a few steps i am going to discuss on how to learn mandarin Chinese.

There are four mandarin tones.

Mandarin is a tonal language this in turn implies that one word which might be similar in spellings when said in a different tone might altogether bring a different meaning. So mastering the four mandarin tone is the basic of learning the language.

The first tone is a high, flat tone. Voice remains flat with no rise or dip in the way it sounds. Using "ma" as an example the first tone is denoted by a symbol above the letter a in "m"
The second tone now is a rising tone where your tone rises from low to middle pitch like when asking someone to "pardon?" which using our example "ma" will have a symbol like this one "má"
The third tone now goes from middle to low to high also refereed to as a dipping tone. like when you say the letter "D" this tone is indicated by the symbol "mǎ".

The fourth tone is a lowering tone the pitch goes directly from high to low as though you are commanding someone an example in English is a word like "DONT". This tone is usually indicated by the symbol "mà".
This can actually be best illustrated in an audio tape or a video for better understanding you need to hear the tones being differentiated might be a challenge reading them without a practical example.
Some vocabularies are easy to memorize so the best second step you can take is to just memorize useful mandarin vocabulary. Most people will start with maybe the types of foods for example, beef: niúròu or time of the day evening: Wǎnshàng

Pronunciation is key in mandarin it does not make sense to know spellings of a word while you can not pronounce them or being able to write and understand while you cannot pronounce what you have written.
Try as much as possible to write down any mandarin word you learn from English and practice pronouncing it this will help you learn mandarin.

You can next learn how to count now.

Mandarin numerals are kind of straightforward if you manage to learn 1-10 it will be very easy to learn even up yo 99.

For example
One: written as () or yī, pronounced [eee]
Two: written as () or èr, pronounced [arr]
Three: written as () or s n, pronounced [sahn]
Four: written as () or sì, pronounced [ssuh]
Five: written as () or wǔ, pronounced [woo]
Six: written as () or liù, pronounced [liou]
Seven: written as (  ) or qī, pronounced [chi]
Eight: written as () or b , pronounced [bah]
Nine: written as () or jiǔ, pronounced [jeou]
Ten: written as (  ) or shí, pronounced [sher]

After you are conversant with 1-10 all you need is say the numbers in tens position then the word "SHI" followed by ones position for example The number 19 is written as yī shí jiǔ,literally meaning "one ten plus nine"

CONCLUSION

From there now one can learn conversational phrases now after which one advances their skills further where you go into studying basic Chinese grammar practice reading and writing Chinese characters and many others.
